  • Soundcard choice for 2 speaker setup

My apologies if this has been asked before but... Current System: Gateway G6-400 w/ PIII 550, 128mb RAM, onboard Ensoniq AudioPCI, Matrox G400SH, Cambridge SoundWorks Digital speakers (three piece system - two sats and subwoof).
I've tried the SBLive MP3. I can detect a slight improvement in sound quality. However, it seems that the SBLive and Aureal Vortex cards are geared more towards 4/5 speaker systems.

First question - whadayathink? Is an SBLive overkill for two speakers?

Second, are there any benchmark/test programs geared specifically towards soundcards?

    Thanx!

There is nothing wrong with using sblive with 2 speakers... even though its optimised for 4.. it will still sound superb w/2

btw, this doesnt really test sound quality... cos the only thing that can hear a difference is your ears.. the computer cant tell the difference in audio quality between diff. sound cards.
