It won't. Note the part about it being not related to the SyFy series.

Singer will be doing his own vision. It's possible the SyFy versions writer could be brought into the project, in fact there are rumors to that effect, but it's by no means certain.

I remember when Universal/SciFi (I refuse to use the "other" name) started production of the mini-series. If I remember correctly Universal had TV rights and someone else had movie right. I guess Universal got them both in the end if they are releasing the movie.

I was impressed with what Singer did with X-Men, so I don't think I will disappointed with a BSG movie by him. Though I hope the series writers are in on it, too.
