  • Keeping email addr when changing ISPs?

We are thinking of changing from DSL (AT&T) to Cable (Cox)
The Cox people told Becky that we could keep our email addresses when we switched.
We have had them for 10+ years so changing would be a pain.

I know our phone numbers are portable by statute, but what about email addresses?
I have never heard of this.

    Anyone know the scoop?

Depends on your addresses. If they are gmail, hotmail etc., no problem; just access them via the new ISP. If they are cjolley@cjolley.com or similar, your domain can be transferred. If they are like cjolley@old-isp.com, then I guess it's tough cheese unless you keep an email account open with the old ISP.

Some ISPs will allow you to keep your old addys, but will want to charge you 5 or 10 bux a month to use their domain name and re-route your mails....
