Weird CDR/W Problem

I have a Ricoh RW7060 (6x4x24) and it writes flawlessly at 6x speed on CDR disks, but when I try to record on a CDR/W disk the maximum supported speed shown by the software is 2x. I have tried Nero 4.0, Easy CD Creator 4.0, CDRWin but no luck. Any one had that problem? I got the latest firmware but it did not change anything.

mine works fine under win2k and win98.. Are your aspi drivers working correct..get aspi check 4.6 from adaptec and make sure it's operating correctly! I had a damn load of problems before I sorted things out with this aspi patch http://home.istar.ca/%7Ejha_tam/wnaspi32.zip ..

P.S. sure that latest patch was 1.7?
