  • can't flash abit be6 bios (pl.bin)

am doing it from a safe command prompt, it gets to the flash screen and then hangs & i have to reset the pc. i can flash earlier versions mu, nu with no problems. i have downloaded pl.bin several times from different locations with no effect.pl.bin is in the be6 bios folder, is it not actually a be6 bios? or does pl.bin require something in tne bios to be changed before flashing?

You should be flashing it using a floppy. Just make a bootable floppy by sticking a new disk in your floppy drive, goto mycomputer, right click on a: choose format, copy system files only, copy awdflash.exe, and be6_pl.bin to that floppy, reboot with the floppy and then type a:, type awdflash be6_pl.bin, select yes, then yes.

I think the problem is that you are trying to run it off of your hard drive, your OS is being run from your HD, and when you flash the PL bios, it has a BIOS update for your High Point Controllers, and it doesn't jive.

Just a little note for any who should read this thread.
              1. Format a fairly new disk & copy system files.
              2. Copy unpacked "Bxx_xx.bin" and AWDFLASH.EXE to disk.
If you get any error messages about file corruption DO NOT proceed!!!

I recently performed my 1st bad flash. Extreme Bummer!!! Now I have to replace the BIOS chip on that board to get it to work again. Actually, the situation led to a happy ending because it led me to purchase a BE6. The old BH6 will be "resurected" to run my old 366 Celeron @ 550 soon.
Damn, the computers are starting to "multi-task" ME!! 8^P

                Hi CannyOne,

To resurrect that BH6 is very simple, just get that floppy disk out with your BH6 bin file, awdflash.exe, and make an autoexec.bat file on it that contains the following:
                a:
                awdflash BH6_**.bin/a

stick the floppy in the computer and start it up, it will flash automatically without the need of a good bios.

Man, I shouldn't post while working, that autoexec should have said:
                  A:\AWDFLASH bh6_** /PY /SN /CC /CD
                  .

where ** is the alpha number of the bin you are are flashing.
