  • SoundBlaster Live Value & DVD sound distortion

The problem is a real pain in the....

I have a new SB Live Value and G400dualhead Max, P3-500, lots ram and h/d space and a Pioneer 114 10x DVD player.

When I play DVDs the sound is ok for about 5 secs and then BANG, enough distortion to blow your ears off. I have checked all the settings, and no conflicts, removed the sound card to a different PCI slot, and reformat and reinstall Win98 a couple of dozen times.

Things looked good when I heard that Creative had updated drivers for the SB LiveValue, but after d/l them the problem was still there. Nuts. The sound card works ok other than playing DVDs. Also I d/l the PowerDVD player and I still get distortion, but now the picture freezes up too. Even the ATI player chews out distortion.

I am planning on throwing the sound card into the ocean (since Creative tech services tells me that the the problem is the Matrox card).

    Anyone, help?
