I prefer it to Exchange/Outlook
When you own your own business you only have to work half a day. You can do anything you want with the other twelve hours. -
Novell and thier IPX left a sour taste on our network, never will we go Novell for anything.

Hehe, I know, I was showing my age there wasn't I I think since IPX and Banyan, Microsoft came out with NT4.0 and Windows 95 and the world moved to Microsoft for file sharing, printing and exchange.
But this thread brought back memories I tell you!

ugh some of the first networks i was on were novell and ugh ugh ugh. The clients made my job as a help desk guy a nightmare.
blech on groupwise too.. Though honestly anything is better than Lotus notes
Wikipedia and Google.... the needles to my tangent habit.

Funny you should mention that. The place I work uses it for email, messaging and many low load databases. Plenty of features make perfect nonsense. Notes Must Die
The company I work at uses Lotus Notes. They have locked Domino down so we
can ONLY use Notes. No IMAP or POP3 access. On top of that they've slipstreamed SP2 into
their installer for Office 2003. This breaks Microsoft's Outlook Connector for Domino.
I'm just waiting on our merger to go through. We will be moving to Outlook/Exchange
for everything. When they announced that on the company wide telecon about the
merger, EVERYONE cheered! You know it must be bad if you have THAT sort of reaction.
And just to show how much I hate Notes. I despise Outlook. Give me Thunderbird, Evolution
or anything other than Outlook. But as much as I hate Outlook, I can't wait for it just to get out
of Notes. Notes is just AWFUL.

The one thing I hate with a passion about Outlook/Exchange is that it made it very easy to figure out a users password when they stepped away from their machine. Programs can be found that find the password in Outlook and with the integration it is the same as the network password.Comment

Yeah, that is what I hate about Outlook. It is just such a security hole.
I'll be using Evolution w/ the Evolution Connector once we switch. No need
to us Outlook if I don't need to.
