  • Surround Sound with Cambridge FPS1000

Anybody know how the Surround Sound is with the FPS1000's? I was watching DVD's with them before but I could only hear whispers from the surround speakers. I only have the minimal SBLive Drivers installed though... Would it make a big difference if I installed LiveWare 3.0 and cranked up the Surround or whatever?

Also, if all starts working, will I get 4.1 sound? Or would I need a decoder for that, which I'm pretty sure the FPS1000 doesn't have.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Long live Matrox.

Install the liveware 3, preferably after removing the original (crap) drivers. Choose 4 speaker mode and use play movie from the live task menu.
In liveware 2.1 (which I used when I had SBLive! and FPS1000) I chose 4 speaker and movie mode and got decent surround.
I think the Live can downmix to 4.1 from 5.1
