  • Server backup error messages

Please help me understand what is causing these messages and how to fix!

Its a SBS 2003 server running a nightly backup with Seagate Backup Exec 10d from midnight to about 7am. Running fine for over a year but for a little while now every night at 4am the following are appearing in the Application Log:

(If the image doesn't appear its just the webserver updates being a little slow)

The details of each error, from bottom to top are:

    18264 :
Database backed up: Database: BEDB, creation date(time): 2006/11/06(23:16:01), pages dumped: 1323, first LSN: 1036:253:1, last LSN: 1036:255:1, number of dump devices: 1, device information: (FILE=1, TYPE=DISK: {'C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Data\BEDB.bak'}).

    18264 :
    Database backed up: Database: BE_DLO, creation date(time): 2006/04/21(10:15:38), pages dumped: 219, first LSN: 8928:147:1, last LSN: 8928:149:1, number of dump devices: 1, device information: (FILE=1, TYPE=DISK: {'C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Data\BE_DLO.bak'}).

    17066 :
SQL Server Assertion: File: <scanrid.cpp>, line=321
    Failed Assertion = 'm_len != 0'.

    18052 :
    Error: 3624, Severity: 20, State: 1.

BeServer lost connection to the database. Some operations may not work properly

BeServer has reestablished connection to the database.

    Thanks,

    T.

SBS backups are black voodoo with so many services running. I have to reboot SBS Servers regularly or restart various services for backups to work.

Something might be interfering with Backup Execs client access to database. Check if anything else is going on.

You can also backup base by stopping SQL Server service, dumping files to tape and then restarting SQL service.
