    Thanks Doc, but why in the hell can't these people produce a DVD with DTS sound rather than DD5.1 is beyond me! OK it could be disc space limitations but still sheesh!!!!!

    DTS is far superior, and you need DTS for movies like Iron Man and the Dark Knight etc.

      You make a good point re: TDK and Iron Man, but DTS is an optional audio codec in the DVD standard, not a primary one. The primaries are Dolby, LPCM and MPEG-2 Level 2. Most studios just use the primaries. Hell, most don't even use LPCM.

        DTS is optional for disks, but required for players:

        Blu-ray FAQ with answers to common questions about the Blu-ray Disc format. What is Blu-ray? How much video and data can you fit on a Blu-ray disc? Will Blu-ray be backwards compatible with DVD?
