  • I have to say goodbye to my beloved Marvell

Yesterday my beloved card Matrox Marvell G400 has finished its life
It has worked on one of my computers with Windows 98SE
During last years I have changed everything-disks, processors, ram, etc. but not graphic card
So now I have a big problem, what to buy.
I don't need 3D, as I never play computer games but I need a graphic card with TV analog tuner and video capture possibilities where the quality is the most important.
I don't wanna spend more money then 500-700 USD for it.
Anybody has a suggestion what to buy?
    Thanx for any recommendation

hmm.. the ATI(amd) A-I-W series card comes to mind..
they just released one based on their 3800/3600 HD vga series and 650 theatre pro chip
    links

else just any normal graphic card with their TV cards should do the trick
    link http://ati.amd.com/products/atitheater.html
or better yet look here http://ati.amd.com/products/atitvwonder.html

just note most of them are now based on pci-express buses
but all are definately below your budget that even the just released A-I-W card can be purchased with a new motherboard (in case you are currently on AGP) and still be within your target

Life is a bed of roses. Everyone else sees the roses, you are the one being gored by the thorns.

Why not use graphic card + TV card (PCI or USB)?

All-in-one solutions are not popular anymore.

I sugest ATI. I have been using ATI since after my Rainbow Runner Studio and Marvel and so far (after about 5 years) have never had any problems. "Fingers crossed"
We pass this way only once. Make the most of it !

Thank you all for all these responses
Based on them, I'm just gonna buy ATI card plus additional TV card.

Anyway I will miss Matrox logo (which I have seen since my first Rainbow Runner card and later others) and all those times when we have seen the next new top quality Matrox product or new drivers or later-Adis drivers.
Well, sweet (and sad) nostalgy ...

          Thanx again
