    I just received my Pioneer DVD 303S! But with installing the DVD software with my..

    G400, it asks me to select a region. I would like to know if this will affect my drives ability to play other region DVD's? I bought the 6x DVD because I didn't want a region locked drive. Would this affect it?
    If it does affect it, would software like DVD Genie allow me to play any region DVD's?
    If none of the above is possible, or there is a better softDVD player out there, could you point me in that direction? Thanks.

    Yes, the RPC Jumper 1 is still on. I made sure not to touch it. I just don't want the region set in windows itself. I am not sure if that can happen, but I don't wanna take the chance.

      btw, on the Pioneer drives, do they have weird jumpers on it? Mine are black with a green rubber coating around it. Think they should be jumpers, but they don't look like the traditional jumpers tho. I have a few spare ones in case they aren't.

        check out that site i think you have to use a program like dvd gene or something and as long as the jumper is on it should not effect the drive. check the site though for more info.
        msi 6167 mobo k7 500 wk41 now at 650. 256 meg ram ,addtronics case w 250watt sp power supply, matrox g400, maxtor diammax 2500+ 10gig hd,10x aopen slot dvd, 3com 10/100 nic, sb live xgamer sound card, efecent networks dsl modem, dlink 701i dsl router/firewall, lots of controlers (joystick throttle rudder raceing wheel), 19in ctx monitor, logitech mouseman wheel usb, and klipsch promedia v2-400 speakers. win98 oem and win2k pro dual boot.

          befor you hooked it all up did you make sure there was a jumper on the region jumper. some of the newer 6x pioneers dont have a jumper on the block you have to put one on or the drive geets region locked (don't wory you can make it region free again if you locked it.) check out http://www.dvdutils.com/ for info on how to do this.

          i dont have a region free drive any more i bought the 10x slot drive (im happy with it )

            don't worry, the g400 dvd player only sets the region for the cinemaster engine in the windows registry. It does nothing to the dvd drive itself. Even though the dbd region for the g400 player is set you can still change it using the dvd region changer ( i think this may be called dvd genie now)
