  • Greebe got a question..

Can you post some cpu scores between an Athlon 500 oc'ed to 750 1/3 cache and an Athlon 500 oc'ed to 750 1/2 cache??

I just have mine at 1/3 cache and was wondering what kind of difference i would get at 1/2 cache.

    Thx
    Athlon 500MHz @ 750MHz 1/3

      ummmm
any kind of cpu benchmark prog.

Even 3DMark99 or 3DMark2000 cpu marks would be great.

      thx

Greebe, you've obviously experimented with a variety of different (preposterously high) processor speeds. I'm curious. Have you seen the G400 hit a wall? When jumping from 700 MHz to 850, did you notice the board becoming a bottleneck or did your 3D benchmarks continue to rise?

        Thanks.

          OK,Sandra 99 Pro (registered)
scores are (2502 mips, 976 mflops) the same!

          WinBench 99 1.1
          With CPUmark 99
          750 @ 1:3 62.3
          750 @ 1:2 66.8

          with FPU Winmark
          750 1:3 4080
          750 1:2 4080
(note, I expected that to happen)

OK now for the biggest complaint I have... I've done alot of testing and have found inconsistant results simply by rebooting the machine!

          example:
          800 L2 1:2 each test run twice
          reboot1
          66.5
          reboot2
          65.4
          reboot3
          70.4

So as you can see there's obiviously a problem!

Also Prime95 runs faster when at 700 1:2 than @ 800 1:2!!! I'll be sending my results back to AMD and MSI (using a 6167) on this issue! More to come

I'm also posting this problem in a new thread.

            And again
            850 1:3
            reboot1
            70.4
            reboot2
            72

I'll add that 72 is the highest I've seen yet on my machine! )

              Greebe I am getting around 60 - 61 with CPUMark99.

only once did I get 62. I don't have a lot of extra cooling, could this be a factor for getting slightly lower scores?

I think I am going to push the latency up to 1/2, only problem is that I had to soldier the overclock.

Zenfe, neither of those are really good for testing your cpu! you may also want to change your "Anthlon" to "Athlon" in your siggie

                I'm running some tests now

paulcs, I've seem no bottleneck as of yet!

Zenfe, I suggest getting a better cooling solution, I'm using a Globalwin FKK32. If you modified an Alpha p3125 that would be best.

Also what MB are you using?

I am sure i can find a way to attach a fan it.
