  • Decent PCI or PCI E Serial Adapter

Probably going to be ordering some at work.

    Both 4 and 8 port.

I've seen some for $120 (for 8port), and others for over double that. What brands should I be looking at? what are good specs? does it really matter?

Not 100% sure whether or not they need to be PCI or PCI-E 1x. Most likely just regular old PCI.

      Siig

Never had a compatibility problem with any of their adapters - and that goes back to the dos days. Never had a hardware failure. just work out of the box.

Yup, Siig gets my vote also. Used them at work on some strange configs and never had a problem.
