Under the hood we see the 600v controller/inverter and the large-gauge wiring to the 120 Kw 3 phase electric motor and the charging system. In the production version the electric motor, controller/inverter and charging motor will be blended into a single assembly.
Reports from GM itself say that the E-Flex system used for the Volt literally has a blank check, is GM priority #1 and the Volt project leaders have been told whatever they need, they'll get it. The plan is to use it up and down the product line internationally.
Ric Fulop, the founder of MIT spinoff A123 Systems and maker of one of the LiION battery systems GM is evaluating, recently said;
