    Hi guys!
    I have a problem and i really need your help
    And it's start...
    I had w.d 4.3gb caviar and i used it as my primry hard disk
    and i was able to over clock my cpu without any problems
    (p3 450@558 on bh6)
    but few days ago i got the seagate medalist 4.3gb
    and i try to use it as my primry
    but when i over clock the cpu with the seagate
    it fail (win.com deleted and other sys files and a lot of disk and reg prolems)
    so now i want to know if the problems really happen because
    the h.d?
    because now i'm planning to buy w.d expert 9.1
    and i dont want such problems
    please help me!!!!!!!!

      It certainly sounds like you had an overclocking related hard drive failure.

      Hard drive failures seem to be less common than they were a couple of years ago, although I suspect more people are overclocking. Back then, IBM and Western Digital drives had a reputation for being good overclockers, and I noticed you had a Caviar drive in your machine before switching to the Seagate.

      I can't vouch for the Expert personally, and there aren't any guarantees, but I do think you should go with what worked for you in the past. Maybe some other forum members will provide testimony about what works for them.

          Clean install!!!

          but i think that my problems came from my 128mb pc100

            dr. matrox,

            do you have any "latency" settings in your bios for the ide controller? if you do try setting the latency to its' lowest value. this will reduce the amount of time that the ide controller has to process transactions in the bus, or if it already set at its' lowest value then go the other way...good luck!
