In search of knowledge
Recently upgraded(via windows update)to IE5.1
(OS is win98se upgrade.)
After install,went to file checker and it reported 14 corrupted file.Restored files and rebooted.
When win98 started, a screen popped up stating explorer had caused a fault and will be shut down,leaving me with my wallpaper only.ie.no OS
Reinstalled windows,same result,in safemode had the same results.
As a last resort,fdisked and reinstalled.
Pain,but all is well.
My question is:
Is ther a way to uninstall windows via Dos without destroying all your files and if so,How?
My 2nd question is:
When I reinstalled win98,it came up with a masterful configuration(com1&com2 both on irq4,made perfect sense,as a ps2 mouse is used,and configured my sound card (irq sharing)perfectly.
However,when I installed win98se upgrade,it completely buggered the original configuration,and left me hanging(reconfigured and all is well)
Is there a way to save the original configuration so it can be used at will?
I know writing it down,but someway a button in windows can be pushed to activate it?
