Read the latest computer hardware news, analysis and opinions on Tom's Hardware and get a glimpse into the future of cutting edge tech. | Tom's Hardware

Edit: If you check the HardOCP forums Kyle says that their benchmarks are more accurate, as they use ingame benchmarking rather than canned/cutscenes like some of the other reviewers use.

Seems as though it is now the most powerful "single" card available, although it doesn't have that large of a performance gain over the 8800 Ultra. Should be priced competitively, ~$450-500 I think.
edit: above may not be accurate, read bold comment in first post

Another thing to note, with AMD/ATI taking back the "single" card performance crown, well, at least being competitive, the NV 9800GX2 should be on its way shortly!

Glad to see they are keeping up.

I like these types of cards. They are more powerful that the single card setup without having to go SLI or Crossfire.
        Titanium is the new bling!

yeah but the 9800GX2 is two PCB's. Very expensive to produce, and heat will be a problem for them, and power...

We'll soon see what NV has in stock...
ATi's drivers are getting better, and its basically in the TWIMTBP titles that they are catching up.
Crysis just 'happenned' to have SLI support out of the box, but Crossfire had to wait until the first patch...marketing is a bitch.

Next card, i'll be going back to ATi. I much preferred their IQ over what i have experienced with Nvidia hardware lately...

None of the reviews so far seem to agree with each other....

Just gonna read the above one to see if different from all the others...

ATi is working hard on the drivers, as this is where its at from now on...

Go on Toms and it says that the card is alright, go on anandtech and the card is fabulous. Seems like a decent card, who knows how well it really performs.

It could probably do with 2Gb of RAM, just so it is able to do decent AA at very high resolutions...thats why the 8800GTX/Ultra seem to beat it sometimes.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the partners did one...

Its better than putting 1Gb of RAM on an entry level card...

I think it will be a real go-getter, especially at that price (which will go down from here).

From the ones I've read, [H] and Driver Heaven are the only ones that actually play the game with the card, not just benchmark cutscenes or flybys.
