  • Crysis Demo Benchmarks

So. A new game to bring PC's to their knees

If you go into the program files folder, where you installed the demo, follow this path:
    E:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin32

    E: is my drive btw...yours may/will differ.

Here you will find two batch files, Benchmark_GPU and Benchmark_CPU.bat

If you could run them both with the "all high" settings in the game and "all very high" for those in Vista as well.

I have attached two files for XP users,
If you go into the following folder :

    E:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Game\Config

you will find a folder called "CVarGroups".
These two .zip files are the original version of the files, and a modified version of the files to include some of the DX10 glory.
Yes, it does look better, but it also costs a few fps.
I have managed to make a compromise between fps hit and screen beauty.

Anyway, this is what I get in XP (max/avg/min) in FPS :

    1680*1050 (NoAA/NoAF)

    GPU results "High": 32.8/27.9/16.7
    GPU results "Mod": 29.7/24.4/11.5

    CPU results "High": 34.5/26.0/15.3
    CPU results "Mod": 29.8/22.4/13.7

How bad is it with your config ?

this is with the GPU at 648/1728/1800 8800GTS/96p/640Mb
I hear the 320Mb 8800GTS's are gonna have some more probs with the memory size ? i'd like to know if poss for a friend...

    Cheers,

    Jez

edit: 163.71 drivers the latest WHQL, rivatuner doesn't like the new beta ones, and i didn't notice any great improvement.

That's one nice rig you got there (according to your sig) how did you pull off 4.8Ghz?

Heh, have to change the sig slightly...
I only managed 4.77GHz after the G-Skill died.
Its stable at least. Above 4.8 it bluescreens a few seconds after windows boot.

I'm using the stock waterblock delivered with the Corsair hydrocool 500. Its a 120mm integral fan and pump and 120mm rad. i have it sitting on top of a dual 120mm fan blowing upwards to help the single 120mm internal fan.

the Northbridge is also watercooled, with the full copper block from corsair.

I got one of the last Pentium D's, after experimenting wiht an inexpensive 805D, 2.66 to 4.1 on AIR. Very loud air at that. So i went watercooling, and at the same time got a 65nm Pentium D 945 at 3.4GHz.
Seeing as i got a 2.66 to 4.1, i was hoping to get quite high, but on phase change people were just getting to 5, so i hoped, and this is what works best.

i am thinking of doing the graphics card too, but have no money for that atm...

Think i'll stop there... 1.61V is enough...

Crysis CPU/GPU in a little mo...just stabilizing the GPU now.
Here's a screenie, the web page doesn't show voltage...

Max/Avg/min @ 4.92GHz, 5G is impossible atm, 1.6V not enough, next step too much...

          @High settings for all:
          cpu : 36.68/27.05/17.22
          gpu : 33.80/28.65/18.08

a teeny weeny bit better than before, now to see if it holds in DivX encoding...

edit : GPU is at less than before, 621/1674/1800...not tried this CPU clock at that GPU clock yet...

Max temp at load is 56C.
Drops to 46C within a few seconds...

Seems stable at 4.92GHz. First time i've used OCCT, seems ok.

Vdrop is huge tho...0.1V at load.
I went from 1.6V to 1.5 and below while at 100% load...would cooling the power stage more (mosfets etc) do anything to reduce this ?

atm, ther is a p**s poor 4cm fan on the Voltage stage radiator (weak, i know). holding with 1 screw. at 45 degrees. lol. if i could use sticky tape i would

edit: some voltages to make you sweat...
              Vcore 1.6V (1.5 load)
NB: 1.65V (from day 1, watercooled)
              SB: 1.05V
              Mem: 2.2V

Note the voltages of the +5 and +12 and 3.3V, they barely changed at full load. And its only a 575W Enermax PSU...

By the benchmark, for the benchmark...

Aftermath of the 'oh sh*t i pushed it too far':

Just a quickie on stock voltages and CPU settings.
                CPU temp at idle, 23C
                Mobo temp, 27C LOL...
