• Ack, problem with CD-RW

I just got a Creative Labs CD-RW 6424(6x4x24x). I can burn data on to CDs just fine but when I try to burn WAVs/MP3s on as CDA I have a problem. As soon as Nero gets done doing a speed check the computer just restarts, no errors, nothing, just reboots. I can't seem to get to www.ahead.de (makers of Nero) and Creative doesn't have any new drivers. Anyone got an idea?

Grazie,
Thien

TnT,

Try using a different cdr software like cdrwin 3.7c or above, or even easy cd creator deluxe..

Easy-CD Pro is the easiest burning proggie to use, especially for audio. They discontinued it and it only comes bundled with toasters now, but if your a warez hunter you can find it.

System specs!! SYSTEM SPECS!!

Is DMA checked in the Device Manager for this drive? Turn it off. My CD-RW did not work for months, nor could I play CD audio, before I got that tip.... now everything works fine.

What? System specs? Oh, yes, right...well, at the moment, it's: Soyo 5EMA, K6-2 333, 256MB PC100 SDRAM, Maxtor 7GB HDD, LS-120, Promise Ultra33 EIDE controller, Diamond Monster Sound MX300, HP 8100i CD-RW, Hi-Val (Nakamichi) 16X 5-disk CD changer, Win98 +SR1...oh yeah, and a Millennium G200 8MB SGRAM.

Alright problem solved. I uninstalled VIA's Bus Mastering Drivers and let Windows handle the bus mastering and now it runs smoothly. Thanks for the replies anyways. Also Nero works fine, I don't think there is much difference between Nero and Easy CD Creator.
