  • Problem making DVD disc image

    Hey all,

My bro-in-law made a DVD of a video we shot on camcorder. He did this by playing the video on the TV and using the DVD recorder hooked up to his TV. The DVD plays fine on the computer.

The first time he did this he did two tracks and making a disc image (via Nero, Roxio and Linux) would fail after reading the first track (on Linux it at least produced a useable file).

So we had him redo it and put everything on a single track. I'm at my parent's house right now and both Nero and Roxio get to like 98% and then fail. Nero log attached below, google search was unhelpful.

Any ideas why I can't freaking copy this thing?!?

    Thanks,
    Thien

If it helps you at all ……..

My brother has a camcorder recording to DVD media. One time I was copying 5~6 disc for him, putting 2 camcorder DVD’s on one standard DVD-5 disc.
I did a straight copy from his original disk to my hard drive, using PC drive, joined 2 mpeg’s together and burn to disc. All did fine accept for one.

The file copied was the same size as on the original disk 0.99 GB (1,048,544Kb), yet once played in Windows Media player, it would state the video length of 6 seconds only. It would play in WMP for about 10 seconds, and then it would freeze.

I guess that the MPEG had corrupted header or something, for whatever reason.
It would play fine on his camcorder only. I was able to encode to Xvid from the corrupted Mpeg file, it was playing fine in Xvid format after that. I did it using Auto Gordian Knot.

Couldn’t capture the video out of his camcorder since he didn’t have Firewire or USB out, and I’m not set-up to capture from Video source alone.
