  • IE7 connects to sites in History at startup?

I just noticed something weird. Using TcpView from sysinternals I spotted IE7 connecting to loads of sites from my browsing history on startup. I cleared my history and cookies and next time it was a quick startup with the only connection (apart from my home page) coming from the Google toolbar.

What gives? Surely it shouldn't do phishing checks until you visit. Why else would it do this?

    Prefetching?
(if it assumes that you are likely to visit these sites again....)

I hadn't heard it was supposed to do that, and it seems a bit of a scatter-gun approach to me. Has no-one else experienced this?

I was just thinking out loud (in response to your why-question)...
Other than those two (phising, prefetching), I have no clue as to why it is interesting/requirred to load old sites.
