  • G400 MAX problems

I have bought a G400 MAX card, but when I plug it into my 'JET BOARD' J542B motherboard I get no picture- I have a AMD K6-2 300 based WIN95 system with 80MB ram, DVD etc. Can anyone help??

I solved a similar problem by increasing the AGP aperture in the Setup to 128 MB or 256 MB.

I have already increased the aperture size to 256mb, but nothing happens. Now I have my speaker in my motherboard and it beeps identically to when there is no video card in at all (one long beep followed by 3 short beeps)

      Thanks for your help

It really does sound as though the G400 card is not seated properly.

Alternatively - go to your BIOS and check that boot from PCI/AGP is set to AGP. I had that problem when I moved from a PCI Millenium II to the AGP G400. (You have to put your other graphics card back for that :-) ).

Cheers JC, you were right, my motherborad isn't quite poisitioned properly, so the card needed a good shove to get it in place. Now I can have fun playing with the card.

          Much Appreciated - James Connors

P.S. Which games show off the card well?

It possible that the board is not seated properly? and audible tones when trying to boot? Is the monitor cable plugged into the primary socket?

The monitor cable is plugged in correctly, I haven't currently got a speaker plugged into my motherboard, so I will try that later. I have downloaded the latest bios for my board and flashed it - I'm at my wits end. The only thing I can think is that the G400 MAX is faulty or my motherboard (though the board is less than a year old and also the G400s fan works ?!?).

                Any ideas anyone??

                  Glad you got it sorted

If you've got the horsepower take a look at:

Unreal Tournament, Freespace 2 and Homeworld they are just superb.
