  • Intel to enter discrete graphics market

Be part of the next-generation in graphics and gaming experiences.

We are developing advanced products for high-end client platforms and our silicon designs have us aggressively positioned to advance the state of the art in graphics and other high-throughput workloads. The technologies you will help us develop in this area will ignite new levels in gaming and visual computing.
I got to admit I enjoyed my i740 at the time, my first desktop card.
I'm not sure how good it spells for AMD. Guess it depends on how fast Intel will have a product out.

Intel Intentionally memmory crippled their boards to push AGP
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Maybe this time Intel will take the lead over nvidia then AMD will be behind enough to force to make something big enough to thrust them into the lead pulling nvidia into last place (as far as gaming goes), but who knows.
      Titanium is the new bling!

While I dont question Intels ability toproduce it I do have concerns about their willingness to let that graphics solution able to stand on its on legs without tying to their cpu's//mobo chipsets//etc etc

At worst they might think of some "trick" to make the graphics cards perform better on Intel platforms. Binding them altogether would mean shooting themselves in the foot.

You'd think so, but they've done it before. Odds are they'll do it again. Intel has never shown any ability or willingness to really compete in anything other than the low-intermediate level of graphics acceleration.

lets not compare apples to oranges, please

Intel has the ability, designers, funding, fabs, etc etc.

Lets not forget what Intels help enabled Ati to achieve with the rad 9X00 range of cards

Well, i'm all for anyone who can come in and shake things up a bit.

The video card market was really exciting at one point .... but not really anymore now everyone except ATI and nvidia have run out of steam.

I do remember back when I got my Intel 740. It was a great 3d beginner card, even if it was somewhat crippled by its AGP pushing agenda.

Nvidia is apparently holding back SLI support for Intel chipsets, P35 and especially X38 series...

Don't think Intel is working with them, they might just work a bit more with ATi, since they aren't holding them back...
