  • Can I OC my P2/350 with an Asus P2B board?

Well, since I mentioned "11 years of PC experience" in another thread, I'm probably gonna get ROASTED like thanksgiving turkey for asking this question, but here goes : can I overclock a P2 350 using a plain ole Asus P2B (no trailing letters) mobo? I've tried, but to no avail. I have NEVER OC'ed my systems before, and I think my board just may suck for this OCing thing. It dies a black screen death just by upping the FSB to 103mhz. And it's fulla jumpers, which sucks farm animals, and I can't find ANY voltage jumpers / settings. I think it isn't possible, but I'm hoping some GENIUSES in here can make it happen (blatant ass-kiss ). Any ideas?

    Hello Rock.

Yes, you should be able to O/C. I have had my PII 350 running at 112 x 3 (392MHz) for over a year. 3 month ago, I changed the core voltage, the FSB and the multiplier, so now it is running 103 x 4 (412MHz). All cool and stable.

Is your CPU a boxed version with a fan? The only thing I can think of regarding o/c that might prevent it, is lack of cooling or bad memory! You're 100% sure that you RAM is PC100 - right!?

check out the overclocking sites i got my p2 350 at 464 on a bh6 with a core voltage tweek to 2.2 volts. aavid single fan heatsink. radio shack sink grease.

any way you can tape a pin so you can change the multiplyer to 4.5 and play with the fsb. i don't know if your board would do it but i remember reading about voltage tweeks and pin tapeing on those cpus check oth the cpu data base and compare id numbers and week codeing you may have an unlockable cpu as well.

My problem is I can't change the voltage on my CPU. I can't find any jumpers or BIOS settings anywhere for increasing voltage. It's the board methinks; it's over a year old. I bought the system as a prebuilt system, so the CPU wasn't boxed. I heard about this pin-taping thing, but never knew what pin to mess with. I'll just check overclockers.com or something.

All I had to do to bump my P2-333 to 400 was set the jumpers for a 400 as it says on page 14 in the manual.

I've had it running as a 400 for about 6 months now with no problems.

The rock- I have the same MB as you do, there is not a jumper for the voltage because you don't need to mess with it,before getting my P3 I had a P2 350 and overclocked with no probs.Just make sure you have PC100 ram, alot of circulation in the case or take the cover off, and set the bus to 112. That's all I did and it works great although I need to get some PC133 ram to try for 133 bus speeds. If that doesn't work than I'm not sure what to say cause that's all I did. Later

                Koolstick:

Maybe my PC100 RAM is junk. I never tried 112 since 103 didnt work, so I figured why go higher? If I can ever disconnect from the internet for any length of time I'll try 112. Thanks for the responses guys.

the rock. i have good ram (nec pcb's and nec chips) cas 2 ect.

and i cant get my system to run over 103 stable the cpu just won't do it.

oh i think the pin is b21 but im not sure. it has been a long time scince i read that artical. i think i found it on overclockers or hardopc not sure. (it may have been a tom's hardware even. (he dose seem to rip i mean write some good over clocking stuff.

i think pin tapeing will do the trick for you one pin will unlock the mutiplyer and anothe rwill do voltage modifying (im sure of the first and not on the second.)

                    rock i found some links

1 changeing the core voltage on any slot one board. 2.2 is the only option http://www.tomshardware.com/releases...pii300-07.html

                    yes by tom's hardware.

this is a link to a page that discripes pin b21 of high low sel seting of a cpu. (what the abit bh6 bx6 and others have in the bios witch for some reson unlock the multplyer on some p2300and p2350cpu i have my bh6 with sel set to high (same thing as tapeing pin b21 clcoked at 103 mhz and the multiplyer set to 4.5. i also incressed the core voltage to 2.2 (soft bios on bh 6 but you can also do this with pin tapeing (blocking) http://www.tomshardware.com/Celeronto100.html

                      The Rock...

I'm using a 112Mhz bus on my P2B for over 6 months with none of problems.
My PII450@504Mhz is running OK with the only problem a slight increase in temperature in the CPU (only +2 degrees Celsius).
                      I'm using a Aopen PC100 128mb Sdram with
