  • Vista Sidebar Gadget Ideas

I'm going to be acting as a proctor at EnergizeIT for the Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget programming track.

Part of the track includes a contest to develop the best Vista Sidebar Gadget.

    Gadgets are being judged on:
    -Creativity
    -Usefulness
    -Canadian themed

Does anybody have any suggestions for suitable gadgets that we can suggest to the teams to build?
    P.S. You've been Spanked!

A front-end for Altiris SVS (like the trinket which resides in the system tray)?
A list of removable hardware (with "safe remove" options?
      List of connected bluetooth hardware?
Wifi information (list all networks with details)?
Display the graphical network map (or changes to it)?

I also like the removeable hardware list with the "safely remove" option.

Actually, there is one that desperately needs to be written. A really good task list with lots of options. If you search the gadgets, there are a few but they all horribly suck.

I guess I'd like to see one that numbers each task, allows you to click a check box and crosses out the task, maybe allow you to setup reminders, etc...If I think of more things, I'll let you know.

All these are interesting but they don't have a "Canadian" angle.

For the contest I need a Canadian connection.

Something Don Cherry/Coach's Corner themed. You can play off his crazy suits too.

Just rip something off of google desktop gadgets for the function.
