  • Mac USB drive (FAT formatted) problem.Help?

When creating folders on USB drives formatted with FAT or FAT32, sometimes folders get corrupted somehow: They appear normal (let's say they are called musik and filme), but when I click on filme, it gets renamed at once and I now have two folders named musik. I think last time this happened the original musik contained both folders' contents, and I couldn't delete filme. I don't remember exactly, but it was unnerving, and it always happened. I blamed it on that particular USB stick, thinking its hardware may be corrupt. Happened in FAT16 and FAT32.

This time, it happened on my trusty external DeathStar. So I unmounted the drive and then reconnected it, and found filme empty and musik containing both its own files and some of those that should have been in filme.

    Help?
