  • "Righteous Kill": De Niro + Pacino!!

I so want to see this flick

CANNES -- Robert De Niro and Al Pacino will team onscreen for just the second timein "Righteous Kill," a $60 million indie production put together by Nu Image's Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films.

Shooting will begin Aug. 6 in Connecticut, with some work in Gotham to follow. The two stars play cops chasing a serial killer. Jon Avnet will direct and produce; "Inside Man" scribe Russell Gewirtz penned the script.

Nu Image topper Avi Lerner and Randall Emmett, two of the pic's six producers, did not disclose additional plot details or the source material during a short press briefing Thursday. Rights to all world territories are being shopped in Cannes.

Emmett said the idea for the film originated from the two actors' desire to co-star. "They're friends, and this really all got started from that," he said.

With typical showmanship, seated in the Nu Image Noga Hilton suite overlooking the beach, Lerner went a step farther.

"This is an event in world history," he said. "They were in two scenes in 'Heat.' In this movie, they are in the whole thing together."

    Loved the "Heat"!

This should be a good one too.
Diplomacy, it's a way of saying “nice doggie”, until you find a rock!

Heat is one example of where I could wear out a DVD

      Michael Mann has made a few of those;

      Manhunter (wow....just wow)
      The Insider
      The Last of the Mohicans
      The Keep

Even Collateral was worth watching just to see Tom Cruise "die"

Wow, didn't realize that Mann directed all of those (or that I owned so many Michael Mann movies! Collateral, Last of the Mohicans (AWESOME MOVIE), Manhunter, Heat)

Never seen The Keep - any good?

edit: well I guess so, you did list it

          The Keep (1983)

Not Mann's best, but a good flick similar to the Night Gallery version of "The Devil Is Not Mocked."

Synopsis: 1942 - a NAZI SS unit is sent to guard an old, mysterious fortress in a Romanian pass. One of them mistakenly releases an unknown force trapped within the walls. A mysterious stranger senses this from his home in Greece and travels to the keep to vanquish the force. As soldiers are killed, a Jewish man and his daughter (who are both knowledgable of the keep) are brought in to find out what is happening.

          Cast:

          Scott Glenn
          Jürgen Prochnow
          Gabriel Byrne
          Ian McKellen
