  • DDR2 prices have plummeted

    2x1GBCorsair PC2-5400 DDR2-667 4-4-4-12 for only 105 CAD
    2x1GB OCZ PC2-6400 DDR2-800 4-4-4-15 for only 130 CAD (after rebate)

    (ncix.com)

Prices are almost half of what they were only a short while ago.

Hard drive prices are low too, 500gb drives nearing the $150 mark.

Combine this with the excellent value of the AMD lineup (3600-5200+ish) or the cheaper Core 2 Duo's - you can build quite the computer for next to nothing.

I know there will always be those that say you should wait but these prices are amazing!

Now we just need the new ATI lineup to come out to drive down the price of video cards.

I'm thinking of maxing out the RAM in my lapto to 2gb, 1gb runs just fine but I can't leave my virtual memory turned off for most applications, and that bothers me, which is one of the main reasons I'm not upgrading to Vista. The next SP and the price and the other top reasons.

Damn, I could get 2 Kingmax 1GB(1024MB) PC5300 DDR2 667MHz SO-DIMM's for 54.99 each!!! That is hella worth the price. Hmmm, just one 1gb with my 512mb would even be nice.

Or even a Crucial 1gb stick for 64.99 and just federal sales tax @NCIX.com!!

Gonna have to talk to my financial advisor and see if this fits my budget cause hell, 1gb just is enough, for me that is.

1 GB modules are cheap, 2 GB modules are still rather pricey. Though 2 GB laptop modules just dropped 50% in the past month. If I have $500 to spend I'd drop 4 GB in my laptop (versus $1000 a month ago).

          I'd put 3gb @ 600$CND myself but that's an expensive if!!

GT98, worse would be buying "final" RAM upgrade to DDR machine just before this price drop, when cost of DDR & DDR2 was still roughly the same, as I almost did
Oh well, now only sensible upgrade for me is totall overhaul of the machine...
