My sister has an older Pentium(either 133 or 166) by NEC. After a couple hours of use it starts to make loud crackling and sizzling noises. I think the chip might be overheating but I can't tell because under the keyboard there is a metal plate. I think I can remove the metal plate but I am not sure what is connecting it on besides the screws and I don't want to ruin my sis' laptop right before she leaves for the UK. Does anyone know what might be the problem or anything about that metal plate?
Thanks,
Thien
