  • How would I detect my Mitsumi CDR in dos? Could someone help(text)

    I wanted to upgrade my firmware version 2.01 to 2.03 on my MitsumiCR4801 TE and it doesn't find any drives in dos other than my C drive (harddrive) and my A Drive(31/2") in dos. Could someone please explain how I might set these up, I have E drive(CDrom),D drive (zip) and F drive (CDR). I'm not to used to dos so I don't really know what commands to type. Thanks

    BTW i'm using win 98

    You'll have to get some Mitsumi drivers, and then load them in your CONFIG.SYS file. Then add a call to MSCDEX in your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
    I bet if you find Mitsumi drivers, the installer will take care of most of this.

      Include these lines in the CONFIG.SYS:

      DEVICEHIGH=C:\MTMCDAI.SYS /D:MTMIDE01
      INSTALLHIGH C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MTMIDE01 /M:10

      You can download the driver from the mitsumi website.

        Thanks everyone, I got someone to send me the drivers via email because mitsumi's site is pretty lame, they have the firmware upgrade but you have to detect the drive before you can us that and some other utility that crashed my system everytime I tried it. I will take these suggestions and the drivers and somehow figure it out. Thanks again!

          Turns out that it was the software I was using, CDRWIN was giving me problems, one out of three was a coaster and even at 2 bucks a piece it ads up. I used the proggie that came with my CDR(NTI cd maker pro) and no more.

            I've heard that cdrwin messes up CDs if used with a wrong registration number. Not every CD only some - dubious copy protection??? You should contact support.

              helmchen- could be your right because I got the reg # off a hack site a while back, it's not what I usually do since I pay for my stuff but it was there and it worked but now I know why it doesn't work too well. Guess I can't call tech support on that one.

                Helmchen is right. And you don't get a second try with another serial.
