    600 BHP w/enhancements by McLaren

    Gizmag article....

January 15, 2007 One of the most brutal cars on the road will become even moreso next year when the Dodge Viper SRT10 will be packing 90 extra horsepower from its new 8.4-liter Viper V-10 engine, delivering an astounding 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque. The new 2008 Viper SRT10 will run from 0-60 mph in under four seconds, and deliver 0-100-0 mph performance in just over 12 seconds, braking in under 100 feet.

The new 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 will arrive in Dodge showrooms in North America this summer with a new level of customization options, including five new exterior colors, four new interior color combinations and a new wheel design.

When SRT powertrain engineers set out to get more venom from the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10’s powerplant, their objectives included not only increasing performance, but also complying with stringent regulatory requirements, such as federal Tier 2, Bin 5 and California’s Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV) 2 mandates.

Working with specialists from McLaren Performance Technologies and Ricardo, Inc., SRT engineers began by following the racer’s basic formula for more power: bigger displacement, more efficient breathing and higher engine speed.

The new Dodge Viper SRT10’s deep-skirted V-10 aluminum engine block was revised for a 1-millimeter larger bore, raising the displacement to 8.4 liters from 8.3 liters. With strengthened bulkheads and improved water jackets for better cooling, the block includes pressed-in iron cylinder liners and cross-bolted main bearing caps for strength and durability.

I've never been a fan of convertibles. This design looks like every other convertible, flat and boring! but I do like the hood. I'd like to see the non-convertible.

Very nice looking car indeed but has poor handling, they need to build a mid engine version to keep the weight evenly distributed as well as a very good suspension kit to keep the damn thing on the road.

            I like it though

Ugly IMHO. Also in your first pic, I didnt know what threw me off at first, but then I noticed that the highlights on the sides of the care are of an entirely different type than those on the hood, as if the sides were shiny and the hood matte.

I don't know what the interior is made of, but it has a recycled plastic kind of look. I prefer the outer look of the original RT10 over this one.

What's the point? OK, it looks nice on the outside, but why bother creating something so powerful for a road car? Cars can be 'scarily fast' without 8.4l engines. Heck if you even tried to use all the accelleration or speed it has you'd get charged with reckless driving.

                      So, what's the point?

I liked the old Viper design better. This one is bland, it's trending towards the Firebird/Corvette styling. That's one of my big complaints with sports cars - they're all starting to look the same. I hate Chris Bangle's BMW designs, but at least they don't look like any other car on the road!

I'm the least you could do
If only life were as easy as you
I'm the least you could do, oh yeah
If only life were as easy as you
                          I would still get screwed
