  • Power supply

I was wondering how much power each device takes up so that I can decide if I need a larger power supply. I know the more the better but I'm on a budget so I don't want to buy another that I don't need. If you guys could help me out by filling out this info I(and some others too) would greatly appreciate it.

    CPU(k6-2, k7, celerons, pIII)-
    Hard drive-
    CD-ROM drive-
    Floppy drive-
    Case fan(regular)- 12 watts
    CPU fan-
    Video card-
    Network card-
    Modem-
    Sound card-
    SCSI card-
    Anything else?

Also how much power do you guys need?

    Later,
    Thien

Well I don't know about individual devices. 235w is fine for almost everyone.
Mine is 235W and I think it's beginning to go flakey with 3 Hard drives (2 IDE, 1 SCSI), 3 CD Drives (1 DVD, 1 Writer, 1 PD Drive), PII-333 @ 500mhz, 2x64mb DIMMS, Abit BX6r2, and the cards: G400, PCI SB Live!, PCI Hub/Net card, PCI SCSI Card, and quite a few 80mm fans (well, 4).

    Cheers,
    Steve
