Today LG Electronics announced that it is going to provide the worlds first DVD player to support playing both Blu-ray and HD DVD discs. Details are going to be announced next week at the 2007 CES in Las Vegas.

Let's just hope it comes out sooner rather than later - and that it isn't the price of a HD + BluRay.

The pricing rumors do look like it's pretty high-cost. I'm wondering how they did it. The technical challenges were beaten long ago, but I believe the blu-ray gang was refusing to license such a device.

Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
