Guess what they use a lot in our district?

    Tapes/DVD sets etc. of;

    1. Mr. Wizard
    2. Mythbusters
    3. Junk Yard Wars
    4. How It's Made
    5. Connections
    6. Survivorman

    etc.

and guess what? The kids science scores have gone way UP since this started.

    Kudos to creative teaching!!

maybe they get enough of watching the shows at school that they would spend the time studying at home. instead of watching TV during homework time they'd be reading or something.

lower science score doesn't mean less smart kids imho.

        Imagine the kids coming home:
Kid: "I'm going to do my homework."
Dad: "Aren't you going to watch TV? "
Kid: "No, I've been watching all day..."
        ...
Kid: "Dad, where do we keep our blowtorches? I have homework to do! And do you still need this chainsaw? I want to make a moped..."

Either way, indeed, kudos to creative teaching!

In one of our biology labs we had a really old video with Leslie Nielson in it - he had really long hair (which wasn't quite white yet). Must have been early 70's or older. And this is UNIVERSITY biology. I think U of Manitoba needs more $$.

When I was teaching high school I would have loved to show my students "The Ascent of Man"
As it was I was lucky if I had a text book for each student.
