I'm beginning to wonder what they're drinking in the school board offices around this country

    If they didn't strip his record I'd have 'em all in court so fast their great-grandkids heads would still be spinning;

4 -year-old Accused of Improperly Touching Teacher

    Dec 8, 2006 11:51 PM

BELLMEAD (Texas)- A four-year-old hugged his teachers aide and was put into in-school suspension, according to the father. But La Vega school administrators have a different story.

Damarcus Blackwell's four-year-old son was lining-up to get on the bus after school last month, when he was accused of rubbing his face in the chest of a female employee.

The prinicipal of La Vega Primary School sent a letter to the Blackwells that said the pre-kindergartener demonstrated "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment."

Blackwell says it's ridiculous that the aide would misread a hug from a four-year-old. Blackwell wrote to administrators demanding that the whole incident be expunged from his son's academic file because his son is too young to know what it means to act sexually.

David Davis, the executive director of the Advocacy Center in Waco tends to agree with Blackwell. He says assuming the boy has not had sexual encounters, or been inappropriately exposed to pornography, most four-year-olds are sexually innocent.

Blackwell got a response from the La Vega administration. The sexual references on the discipline referral were removed. But the thing that makes Blackwell most upset is they told him "your request for an apology by the aide and removal of all paperwork regarding this incident is denied." Now the young student's file will refer to the incident as "inappropriate physical contact." And Blackwell says he will continue to fight the district.

La Vega I.S.D. administrators told News Channel 25 they couldn't comment on this case because of student privacy issues.

Not at all. We have a plague of hyper political correctness in many of our schools and it crosses all political & socio-economic lines.

Kids get expelled for bringing a 'weapon' to school if they have a toy soldier in their pocket; hugs are, as this incident shows, a 'sex act'; dodge ball and tag are 'too violent'; you can't compel a kid to shower after gym class, or even to participate in same; some districts won't let the kids join the ROTC (reserve officer training corps; our eldest son was Navy ROTC) and on and on.

Most schools aren't this way, but a whole lot are.

Some have more tangible idiocy. One example is that in most districts if kid A attacks kid B both get expelled, even if B has the sh*t kicked out of him.

It's enough to make a sane parent go postal.

I'm speechless. And really astonished how something like this can happen - I don't think it could here.

Perhaps the parent should let go about it. From the file it's perfectly clear when/at what age this "offense" took place. Any place that would mind is not worth sending your kids to anyway...

Doc and i have talked about this a long time ago - in the context of his wifes job, and my old job.

kids would hug me, cuddle up to me, and in general treat me like their favorite uncle, from the ages of 2 through 12.
When I first got here it freaked me out - for Oz is not much different to the states regarding teachers and contact.

after a while, i relaxed - only after the parents made it clear they were happy with the situation.

Kids, particulary young ones, need physical affection, thats something every parent, and every early childhood educator knows. what the hell that teachers aid is doing near small children if they can not cope with that - good lord.... Doc I am right in line behind marge wanting to strangle/throttle that aid

Reminds me of a friend of mine.

His wife commited sucide after getting involved with druggies. It left him with a young daughter. His mother brought his daughter up most of the time however he was in a pub with his young daugther and she was sat on his lap bouncing up and down doing somersaults and all he got was stoney glances from people in the bar. I.E pervert. They didn't know or bothered to find out that it was his daughter.
