  • Comcast upgrade download bandwidth?

I'm consistently getting 11.5Mbps down. Can someone else confirm by going to:

Use Speedtest on all your devices with our free desktop and mobile apps.

    Thanks.

btw, this same site was only giving me 6Mbps 1 month ago, so it's not just related to this site.

I guess it's true but San Jose is late to the game:

        Article dated June 2nd:

When a user downloads a large file like a movie or video game, that acceleration -- from 6 megabits per second to 12 megabits per second for subscribers to Comcast's $42.95 per-month service or from 8 megabits per second to 16 megabits per second for its $52.95 per-month tier
EDIT: It's actually giving extra bandwidth when the shared pipe isn't being used, so not as good as I thought. They call it "Powerboost". So only good when the pipe isn't being hammered by a lot of people. I didn't know.

Yeah, I got some fun numbers:

          11/22/2006 8:58 AM GMT 6044 kb/s 360 kb/s 80 ms Dallas, TX ~ 650 mi
          11/22/2006 8:57 AM GMT 13012 kb/s 362 kb/s 32 ms Salt Lake City, UT ~ 350 mi
          11/22/2006 8:57 AM GMT 10786 kb/s 347 kb/s 77 ms San Jose, CA ~ 950 mi
          11/22/2006 8:56 AM GMT 6564 kb/s 360 kb/s 73 ms Denver, CO < 50 mi

I get a better ping to SLC than I do to the downtown hub?
