      8 games @ $50 each is $400.

      Wii console is $250.

      That's $650.

      Why is this a bargain?

That's my point. This isn't a "bundle deal". The individual price of that many games plus the system is identical to the "deal" price.

It's meant to provide a contrast against the PS3. Why buy one of those when you can get a Wii with 8 games for around the same price. It also goes the other way. The PS3 looks like a higher-end (which is effectively is) machine that is worth more than the Wii 'deal'.

Either way, shoppers end up spending more than they might have otherwise.

Anyone else notice that Zelda isn't one of the selectable games?

Huh? All Wii games, including Zelda, are $50. Period.

So it'll not be breaking, but touching the 700 USD barrier, then

Gurm's point, and mine. Is that all the games are priced the same. They are obviously withholding the most popular game so that it can be a seperate purchase. If the bundle actually gave people a discount I could see it. Since it doesn't... I don't see why you wouldn't include it.. except to make more money.

Wii is a waste of time and money, either get an XBOX 360 or PS3, they have tons more processing power and graphics capabilities.

I agree that PS3 and XBOX 360 are a bit expensive, I'll buy when they drop in price a bit.

All depends on what experience you're looking for.

I want to be able to plonk down in front the couch and play a few rounds of Mario Kart (or whatever) with my family. Sure, I love pretty graphics, but given I'm quite happy with what the GameCube has to offer, the Wii is perfect.

To say it's a waste of time and money is silly.

Because if it is separate you would buy the bundle plus Zelda and not just the bundle.
