  • Sound Cards.

Which one should I get SB PCI 512, SB Live value, or an A3D card? I'm looking to buy around $70 US.

    Thanks,
    Thien

I'm not too familiar with the A3D cards, but I would definately recommend the Live! over the 512.

I have a SBLive! and it is absolutely outstanding! My brother has an MX300 but I haven't really heard much from it.

I have an SB Live! and it is awesome. The 3D sounds are much better now that Liveware 2.0 came out. You can buy an OEM SB Live! Value for around $60 so that is well within your price range too. The A3D 2.0 sound cards are also very good, but are a tad more expensive than the Live! Value. They also do very good 3D sound, but they use their own proprietary sound engine which, although very good, is not DirectX supported like EAX is. This means, IMHO, that A3D will probably go the way of 3dfx's Glide API and EAX based games will become rather dominate in the near future.
