It was a Cirrus SR-20 4 seater registered to NY Yankees starting pitcher Cory Lidle;
Cory Lidle's team info page....
2 fatalities reported so far by the NYFD. Lidle was on board. No word as to if any of his team mates or family were on board. Reports are that Lidel only had ~200 hours of flight experience, only 95 of which were solo. 10 firefighters injured.
IIRC the Cirrus SR-20 has a basic 'black box'.
