  • Did we say 3 weeks? What we really meant was...

Well they said 3 weeks and it's been 4 so this is hardly a suprise.

    <blockquote>
    Hi folks,
sorry to continue with this string of bad news but the final set of win2k video tools and the new 98/ME display drivers for the current mjpeg video tools will have a delay of approxiamately 3 weeks.

    Regards

    Hmmmm.

They better up that G450-eTV rebate a bit

This kind of surprises me. I thought all captures are done with YUV before going through a MJPEG (or similar) processor.

Hahaha, what can i say. Matrox is an pathetic company and i will NEVER buy any of their cards again. Not even if it's 10 times better then the competition.

Is it 3 weeks from today or 3 weeks from the end of original "3 weeks"?

It's 3 weeks from whenever Matrox wants it to be.

          That means never.

Actually, this wouldn't be funny if I hadn't completely given up on matrox a month ago. FCUK Them.

It could be a possibility that they heard everyones cries and are going to do a better job with the final revision they release.

But then I test their regular drivers for them and I even doubt that. It's a possibility tho (lets hope so at least!)

Here's my guess as to what's happening

                Late may, 2001

                Driver dev team:
We aren't close to having a driver working for win2k.

                Management:
We could hire more people to get this done, but what if you took out mjpeg support?

                Driver team:
                That would help.

                Late june 2001,

                Management:
                How are those drivers coming.

                Development team:
we're still having major problems. we thought we could get these working but we can't.

I'm surprised that anyone expected Matrox to keep their word after the long string of driver-related lies they've been telling.

I'd love someone from Matrox to answer the following:

How about some information as to why there is yet another delay in these drivers? The zoran chipset isn't an issue since mjpeg support was dropped.

Why does Matrox wait until after a deadline has passed to announce they aren't ready?

If tech support has nothing to do with or influence on driver development, why are the driver delays announced by tech support?

are there serious issues preventing the release of the drivers at this point? why not release a set and call them beta drivers?

Haig did respond to these questions on the Matrox forum. However, that thread is now locked.

                      http://forum.matrox.com/mgaforum/For.../003399-3.html

How does three weeks from May 29 translate into June 29? I'm glad I get paid every 2 weeks, not 3.

This must be due to the US-canadian time exchange rate. I've determined the exchange rate to be 1.4 canadian days per US day. This explains a lot. When initialy said that the drivers would be ready in May 2001, we should have interpreted that as October 2001. I realize that these calculations can be complicated. I've created a spreadsheet that will automatically give you the actual date based upon a given Matrox date. If you need a copy of the spreadsheet, let me know.

If Matrox would have just put a notation, or info on their website telling it's customers the truth, and being informative, helpful, curteous, and truthful, then there would not be this whole driver nightamre fiasco, complaint forum fiasco going on. But,,,,NNNnnnnooooo, Matrox stuck it's head in the sand and said bite me,,,to it's customers..
