    best overall comparison yet since both use PC6400 DDR2

    Best is only about 40% faster than the worst for video encoding!

      Yeah thanks for the link, those benchies make everything I own including the two HP workstations (8200 & 9300) look like 486 machines

      I know what my next system is going to be.

        5X cost for 40% faster encoding

        What I found most intresting was the slowest encoding was ony 40% faster on the fastest machine, yet the CPU cost was over 5X more. Bang/buck not!

        I'll probably wait until I can actually get a 6600 as the best compromise right now.

        On the "science" benchmarks the AM2 holds up well and still has price advantages, but for us video folks Core2 is clearly the only way to go right now.
