  • For the record: APEX decks do NOT support DVD-R

    Got the sad word from APEX tech support today.

    Hi Doc,

    Are your sure they didn't get mixed up with mini DVD. The link below shows that the Apex machines read DVDR OK.

    Asuming that DVDR and DVD-R are the same thing??

      I read the posts on VCDHelp.com too, but this is the Q & A between me and APEX Tech Support;

      Question:

      "I have two APEX AD-660's with 660-8MM firmware.

      Can this deck play DVD-R?

      If not will there be a firmware update to allow this feature?"

      Answer:

      "Unfortunately our players do not play DVD-R.

      Apex Digital Customer Service Center"

      We'll see....

        It probably means they've used DVDROM drives from many different OEM vendors some of which do not read DVD-R. Rather than face demands for replacements the official answer is "don't support DVD-R".

        If you have one that works be happy.
