    Can you run a script to compress a group of files to a zip file on the desktop using the inbuilt zip compression???

      well I was thinking of using a dos batch file to do it.

        XP's built-in zip functionality does not include a command line interface.
        There's no place like 127.0.0.1

          Could you just install a file compression utility to do it by batch file.

          Old pkzip.exe could work at a pinch, but I do know winzip has a comandline interface add-on, and I think a lot of others probably support for use on the command line as well.

            I use rar from a dos batch file
            @rar a -agDDMMMYY -m4 -idcq d:\Backup\WebServer\Current\WebServer_
