  • Marvel g400 + Mjpg + Win 2000 is OK

Well, how i already posted, i want report this:
After a lot of experiments i can say my Marvel g400 is workig great in win 2000 with drivers ver 5.20.016 and vtools 2.02.017 also and specially in Mjpeg. Capturing and rendering without problems. The only bad stuff is working with Adobe Premiere (i know it's not supported), but same happen in win 98. To work aroud this i tryied Morgan 2.05 codec, it works great in Premiere (speed and quality), but i have noticed some tremblings (i'm not sure it's right word) in videos produced by this codec.
So, i have to use Matrox codec (not workig well in Premiere)
This has convinced me to convert all partitions on my system to NTFS and say goodbye Win 9x.
Also YUY2 works great with Huffy in playback also, but max at 352x288.

    Here is my config:

    Windows 2000 + SP2 fresh install
    Directx 8.0a
    Drivers 5.20.016
    Vtools 2.02.017
    Marvel g400 Pal
    Asus A7V133 (1004)
    Ram 256 x2 MB
    Athlon 1200
    Sound Blaster PCI 128

And alas, even the the Marvel G400 has no problems with the 2.02 drivers, the RR-G does. System will BSOD on running quick connect every time. This is a know issue. Dig back in the forum to when 2.02 was released for more info.

        1) My board is a Marvel g400 not RR.
        2) WDM or not, it works.
        3) It's only my experience, not a rule!

          SP2 'eh?

Guys, please note: SP2 includes improved support for programs written for other OS's.

          Sergio:

try rendering thos HuffYUV files to Morgan or PICVideo MJPeg. If you have the DVD Plugin try MPEG-2. They'll play at higher resolutions with lower CPU requirements. HuffYUV isn't really meant for direct playback.

Thank you for letting people know they too can have a good working setup, and to bring hope and reason for a few. I personally do not use W2K, I use Win98 and my Matrox Cards including a Marvel G400. I am thanking those for helping others and bring this board back to reason, peace, calm, and hoping things get back to (normal). While I don't have the experience with all the OS's, it looks like you can find and use the CODEC that works for you and your goals. While some CODECS can be found for free, other for varying degrees of prices, some included in other programs, other CODEC on their own. In any case, maybe this will help everyone achieve their Video goals in whatever OS and hardware they use.

Anyone tried this on a Marvel G-200? Is it as unstable as the RRG or as stable as the G-400?
Resistance is futile - Microborg will assimilate you.

                Doc,
good playback from Huffy is been a good surprise for me. I think this id caused by changed hardware system from P3 to Tbird, in fact also in win 98 playback of those files is good, when before my P3 never played these Huffy. The only limit is resolution, i can't get capture at nothing more than 352x288 even if no drops at higher res(why this???).
How i say of other Mjpeg, Morgan works great and make me happy in Premiere (alt + scrub in timeline never worked with Matrox mjpg).
Picvideo gave me minor quality and feel not use Zoran chip (render speed 1/3 of Morgan).
However now i wait for new rel of Morgan hoping bug i described is real and not only for me and they fix it soon.
Media Studio capturing Mpeg-1 and Mpeg-2 is ok, but Mpeg-2 only at half size.
In conclusion, except for Premiere, i can say this configuration let me enough satisfact.
For what concern SP2, i'm listening about some bugs. In my case, sometime, when copying large files i get a BSOD for a Stop about Classpnp.sys, but this doesn't have anything to do with videos stuffs. Waiting for MS.....
                The experiments continue !
