  • Any good Free CAD programs?

    I am looking for a free CAD program, i would prefer linux based

    Currently I am having a look at freeCAD and gCAD
    (links here)

    I want it so I can finalise a design I have been playing around with for a while.
    3d and motion modeling would be perfect.

    any recomendations , or what to avoid would be welcome.

    Not sure about how well it fits in the CAD-category (could be that it is more 3D artistic, like 3D Studio Max), but have you considered Blender?

      Perhaps this, much shorter, list will be helpfull:

      (in recent times I often use Wikipedia to find software I need...if it has article there, it probably isn't bad)

        @VJ
        I am not sure blender would do the job, I am more after something for solild modeling.

        Thanks Nowhere thats a great set of links, I think I will be defintley using one or two of those.
        There seems to be a lot of good linux CAD stuff around than I realised

        but which one...ahh, so many choices

          If you can compile code QCAD is pretty good. The binaries are avialable for a trial period only.
