  • LCD Monitors and Laptop screens

    Hello,

Does anyone know how to proper way to clean an LCD Screen?? I have read many solutions. Most say use rubbing alcohol and others say using any type of alcohol will dry and yellow the screen. Then using Ammonia-based products will melt or etch the screen.

Yeah i would advise against both of those, use either warm soapy water on a soft cloth or a specialist lcd cleaning fluid of some sort

I use a couple of drops of liquid Ivory dish soap (clear kind, not colored or scented) in a cup or so of warm water and a soft cotton lens cloth out of my photo bag. Works great.

What I wanted to ask in that other thread: Do you by Monster mean this shady outfit (Monster Cable)?

              yep it's them.

i don't know anyone who'd buy one of their power bars though.

they are a total rip off.

we sell APC power bars. for what monster charges for a powerbar we could sell a UPS.

Do you know where I can buy any specialist lcd cleaning fluid, Marshmallowman? I have looked around at Staples, Circuit City, Best Buy and other stores but could not find anything that specifically stated it was used for LCD screens.

I am in OZ, so any recomendations I have are not going to help you. But I would try electonics/computer places or specialist home theatre places.

But I usualy stick to a soft cloth dabbed in warm soapy water. Then a wet soft cloth to wipe of the any leftover soapy stuff.

I have Monster ScreenClean, came with a nice cloth - works decently - was about $30 CAD at FutureShop (basically BestBuy - are there Futureshops in the US?).

There were briefly some Futureshop stores in some northern states, but they quickly went under. What's the point, when BestBuy owns them anyway? They sell pretty much the same stuff at the same price too...
