  • Liquidmetal (r) alloys....

    The page you are looking for doesn't exist or has been moved.

    Initially developed by the DoE, NASA and CalTech, Liquidmetal is a zirconium, titanium, nickel, copper, and beryllium alloy that cools to a solid at room temperature without forming a crystaline structure, making it a metallic "glass". It has many properties superior even to titanium alloys.

    These characteristic properties are:

    * High Yield Strength
    * High Hardness
    * Superior Strength/Weight Ratio
    * Superior Elastic Limit
    * High Corrosion Resistance
    * High Wear-Resistance
    * Unique Acoustical Properties

    You very likely already have products using Liquidmetal. Sandisk is using it in the cases of some of their products. Other applications include military, space etc.

      The ball bounce is really impressive.
      Especially near the end.

        Very interesting,
        the only real issue seems to be the Berylium component. If the manufacturing of products using this material would
        be performed in a country with less stringent safety measures , there could be a great deal of health issues.
        Yeah, well I'm gonna build my own lunar space lander! With blackjack aaaaannd Hookers! Actually, forget the space lander, and the blackjack. Ahhhh forget the whole thing!
