  • CF Card Reader Causing Problems

    Hi All,

I have a Compact Flash Card reader attached to a USB port on my PC. I have recently installed DVD2One v2 but it will not run while the card reader is pluged. This never happned with a previous version of the software.

I have installed a fresh O.S. (WinXP) with only DVD2One v2 installd + the card and the same thing hppend.

I remember having a similar problem with a USB mouse, on another PC where the PC would not boot most of the time untill the mouse is changed to a PS2 one.

    Any ideas?

Are there any BIOS options relating to booting from USB? Try disabling.

Do you have a card in the reader when trying to run your s/w?

No, I make it a point not to. The only way to get the ruddy app. to run is to disconnect the CF Reader.

No other USB device is apperently causing the same problem.

Some of these funky usb problems can be worked around by connecting the offending device to a usb hub instead of directly to the computer.

I am not sure it would work in your case tho, I think it the stupid app, eg "look I found a usb storage device, it must be a usb cd burner so lets so some some CD only function..panic"

hassle the the software writer and/or look for a patch

Yes true Marshmallowman, The software is "thinking" that the CF Card is a "full" storage device and trying to link to it.

Infact you will run the software and nothing happens, untill the card is disconnected. Then it pops on the screen.

I pluged in a pen drive without any problems.

Problem solved after installing "sis-usbdetect" patch for WinXP.
