  • Bloodhound Gang!

    I love the Bloodhound Gang.

Just so we're clear on that. Jimmy Pop is my hero.

Yeah, I've been listening to them a lot lately.

    They're awesome.

I wasn't too hot on their new album at first, but after a few listens, I'm hooked. Every song is very different stylistically, that took me a while to get used to. Then I figured out how they're making a statement about all these genres. Now I get it.

    I really enjoy irreverent comedy/satire.
    P.S. You've been Spanked!

Jimmy Pop is a genius. Point in fact you have to look at each song in multiple ways:

      - As a decent tune.
      - The funny/dirty lyrics.
      - The social/musical satire.
      - Pop culture commentary.

      It's crazy.

I'm still not too keen on "farting with a walkman on", it's ... I get it, I just don't want to listen to it. I tend to skip that, the pooping thing, and the satanic song. Otherwise I love the new album, but "Hooray For Boobies" is still the most brilliant album of modern times.

I am partial to "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo". But yes Pennsylvania is awesome:

          We are Baldwin Brothers...
Not the good one, but the others!
          ...
          We are the mustaches
The Beatles wore when they dropped acid!
          ...
Do you even know what a Wawa is?

          Crotchless Jihad on blue balls"!
THAT song is awesome. I love the end... "I thank your Dad for the damaged goods!" wow. Just ... WOW.

Well, "Use Your Fingers" (the first EP) had a couple amusing moments but was utterly horrible.

"One Fierce Beer Coaster" had ... well, like 3 good songs. "Fire Water Burn", of course, was awesome. "Kiss Me Where It Smells Funny" was decent, and people liked "Why's Everybody Always Picking On Me" but it didn't do much for me.

Then came "Hooray For Boobies". The breakout hits, of course, were "The Bad Touch" (aka "Discovery Channel") and "The Ballad of Chasey Lain":

              -------------

              Dear Chasey Lain
              I wrote to explain
              I'm your biggest fan.

              I just wanted to ask
              Could I eat your ass?
Write back as soon as you can.

              ----------------

But the entire album was just brilliant commentary on pop music, pop culture, and society. Add to that the fact that Jimmy Pop is right around our age (30) so all his references really hit home... he reminds me a lot of Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) in that respect.

Seriously, buy/borrow/torrent "Hooray For Boobies" and you won't be sorry.

                  Word to the wise:

Don't buy Bloodhound Gang albums at Walmart. I was desperate to get Hooray For Boobies, and we were on vacation and the ONLY store in the area with music was Walmart. I ended up with an album called "Hooray". Yes, they removed the boobies. Every song was censored, and oddly so. In "The Bad Touch", they changed:

Put your hands down my pants and I bet you'll feel nuts.

                  to:

                  Put your ____ down my ____ and I bet you'll ____ nuts.

Huh? It was bizarre. I kept it just for fun. Also the color of the CD was different, and it didn't have the "insert tongue to simulate nipple" marking.

come on baby do the twist

                    It's all in the wrist

I love "A Lap Dance Is So Much Better When The Stripper Is Crying"!

It always reminds me of my last lapdance. The girl was incredibly hot. She was wearing a Catholic School Girl outfit... ('nuff said on that). Anyway, after way too many dances, I asked her what her day job was. She told me she was a mother of two! I was impressed.
